Lots of ways to make money online. Lots of ways to achieve TOTAL freedom from a j.o.b. (just over broke.) If you’ve been following my stuff you know I’m a big fan of the humble niche site. Why after all these years do I continue to build them and teach others how to do the same?
I still believe building profitable niche sites is the easiest path to making money online. If you’re a competent writer, you can’t go wrong. If you can follow step by step instructions, you can’t go wrong. Niche sites are hands down the most accessible gateway to the wonderful world of digital money. Now, just because I said it’s the easiest way doesn’t mean it’s easy. I’m talking about easy as easy compared to making money with PPC (pay per click.) While there are countless ways to make money online, niche sites and PPC are 2 of the most popular methods.
The thing about PPC is there is BIG money to be made. Millionaires are made from PPC campaigns. The game is not an easy one however and requires advertising money up front – typically a lot of advertising money if you want to make the big bucks.
PPC proponents value speed over all else. They don’t like free traffic methods because it takes too long to get traffic. With PPC you can start driving traffic immediately. Niche sites require patience while you wait for your pages to rank in Google. I for one love the waiting time. It’s like I’m on the docks with a fishing pole and a couple brewskis. I know I’m going to hook that sucker eventually but in the meantime I’m chilling.
In the meantime I’m enjoying the process of making money. Making slow money. PPC is like fire tinder. It goes up fast and explosive but lacks longevity (not always the case however.) Niche sites are the slow burning night log. The night log takes a while to catch fire but once it does you have yourself a sustainable source of warmth for a long time.
Find a niche. Do the keyword research. Write the content. Set up the email auto responder. BOOM. Now crack open a cold one and wait for the cows to come home. The CASH COW that is.
Sure, not every niche site is a success. Just like not every PPC campaign is a success. And I’m not saying that niche sites are superior to PPC campaigns – sometimes they can compliment each other. I’m saying that my unique personality vibes well with niche sites. I enjoy the whole process. I like spending as little money as possible while gaining maximum returns. I like to see my free traffic numbers sky rocket. This lets me know I nailed the research.
As my pages rank higher and higher it’s like I’m shaq coming in for a crushing dunk on the competition. It’s all a game for me. A game that’s fun to play. In the end I think it’s all about finding a way to mess around and make money while you’re doing it.
Making money online is not a serious matter. Going broke aint so serious either unless you have kids. I use to be so broke I had to sneak into continental breakfasts to eat. In the first world you will never go hungry.
Want to ask yourself a stupid question? Ask yourself, would you still be doing what you’re doing if you had all the money in the world?
This question is dumb. It assumes that people have lofty dreams and goals for their life. It assumes a fantasy world where people can get payed doing whatever dumb shit they like to do.
Are niche sites my passion? No. I will never monetize my passions. Can you imagine trying to film your passion just to make a few bucks on Youtube? Me neither. But niche sites beat the daylights out of a 9 – 5 job and for that I am grateful to the internet for allowing me this unique money-making opportunity.
I build niche sites because it allows me to live this life of freedom. For that, I am forever indebted to the niche site.
What about you?
