People caught in the trap of analysis paralysis love to ask the question – is blogging going to die this year? Is blogging still a good way to make money online?
People love this question because it gives them yet another excuse to not get started. Instead, they can kick back with a cup of coffee and do more research. They can spend hours watching hustler porn and reading other peoples blogs. Because if it’s one thing the procrastinator knows it is this – doing any kind of real work is pointless unless they spend a lifetime of research beforehand to determine all the ways they can possibly fail.
Is blogging dead in 2018? Blogging is only dead for people who never start. The truth is, blogging will only gain momentum and speed as time goes on. I know this because I have seen 3 of my blogs skyrocket in traffic during 2018. I also understand 2 key things about people.
- People are consistently wrong with their predictions
- People who think blogging is dead don’t even have blogs
These same geniuses also said email would die off when Facebook and other social media platforms emerged in the market. Email only gained strength. Everybody has an email address. Does everybody have a social media account? Absolutely not. Social media platforms are a dime and dozen and die off as fast as they were born. Even now we see major platforms like Facebook taking a nose dive. The last glimmering light from a star who has reached the end of its days. Email and blogs? STILL alive and well and continuing to wipe the floor with other childish mediums.
The blog is the written word. Thinking blogging is going to die is like saying the written word is going to die. I’ve got news – the written word is ingrained into the human psyche and NOT going anywhere. Email and blogging are like slow moving zombies that refuse to die. Given the chance they will MESS YOU UP! …or if anything, line your pockets with some serious cash if you follow the basic laws of making money online.
There has never been a better time to setup a website and start writing money making content. With hosting platforms like Site Ground (affiliate link) you can have your own self hosted blog spun up in a matter of minutes. The thing is, the average joe will spend years doing pointless research before making even the smallest of moves.
What will die in 2018 are the hopes and dreams of those who never got started. It’s a fact – most people simply won’t follow through with an idea long enough to see that idea come to life. Most people won’t even get to the point of setting up their website. They will wind up in a dead end job. A job that barely pays the bills. A SOUL CRUSHING job.
The following is the story of JOE.
Joe spends his days at his shitty job surfing Reddit and researching ways he can make money online. Joe stumbles upon literally hundreds of different methods and strategies. Joe becomes paralyzed by the choices. Joe thinks about setting up a niche website. He almost pulls the trigger on buying a real domain and paying for hosting but there is one thing holding him back…he doesn’t know what to blog about. Joe toys around with different ideas – all of which would make him money if he just stopped analyzing and pulled the trigger.
One day Joe becomes depressed about his soul crushing job and goes out drinking at the bar with his friends. Joe bangs a fertile fatty and is now completely locked into his job – he must provide for the triplets and the 300lb mother. Joe has become a lost soul. What little motivation he had before has been crushed under weight of his new responsibilities.
The story of Joe is depressing but not out of the realm of possibilities. I turn 30 this year and have seen these horrors with my own eyes. I have seen my friends grind themselves down to the bone working a shit job. What was once a man with a fierce vision for his future, is now a shell who clocks in to the daily grind.
Do not be joe.
