Well it has certainly been a while since I’ve written anything on this blog or uploaded a video to the You Tube Channel. Not to worry, I’ve been grinding it out on the daily for a number of sites. There’s a strange thing about maintaining multiple niche sites. Once you see progress for one site you want to dive balls deep into content creation. Seeing your organic traffic spike and your affiliate sales go through the roof is like a rebirth. Suddenly, a boring niche becomes fascinating once again as the dollars flow straight into your bank account. You approach writing content with a renewed vigor and focus.
I’ve setup and created many sites over the years. Many of them have utterly failed and in spectacular fashion. Tons of content down the drain. These are the early days when you don’t really know what you’re doing. Do not be fooled. Building a profitable yet sustainable niche site can be a downright slog to the top and most fail. Is it worth it? Of course it is!
Anyways, I shot a video a while back about creating a case study for you guys. I wanted to show you step by step what it takes to make $500 bucks a month with basic affiliate marketing principles. Now is the time I fulfill that promise to you. Now is the time I expose the underpinnings and core strategies behind building a profitable site.
I have to admit though, I gave myself a head start to gain a little authority in the space. I didn’t want anyone copying my content strategy straight away and stealing my niche and glory. I am now confident to unleash my work to you with zero fear of competition. I have no doubt my content is 100% unique and impossible to replicate on the same level. If you’re a great writer and content creator it’s never been easier to make money online. There is some downright garbage out there these days.
Niche selection and strategy
I chose the nootropics niche as the starting point for my content strategy. This space is quickly growing and there’s a lot of potential to make money. Product owners are hungry for business and happily give affiliates 20% sometimes 30% commissions. On a physical product this is unheard of! I’m starting to lose faith in Amazon even though I’m still making some nice bucks with them. They recently changed their commission structure and many affiliates reported a drop in income by 50%. Luckily for me my Amazon niches consist of products in categories that were largely unaffected by the reduction. This once again shows that Amazon doesn’t really give a shit about affiliates. I don’t think they’ll completely axe the affiliate program but I have no doubt commissions will continue to drop to the point where Amazon is not worth it.
With this in mind I set off to diversify my affiliate income through sources outside of Amazon. Having taken nootropics for quite some time this was the easiest niche I’ve ever selected. If you’re struggling to find a good niche just look around your room.
Not all was gravy just yet. In fact, I had already hit the first roadblock. The SERP results for all my main keywords I uncovered were entirely saturated with affiliate sites no doubt propped up by shady PBN’s. Beyond this, the content was half decent and lengthy which I do not like to see. While most affiliates would crap their pants and run I chose to proceed. Why? For starters I knew that written content was only going to be part of my organic traffic strategy. My second part (and this turned out to be huge) was a complimentary You Tube channel where I discussed nootropics and reviewed products. The You Tube channel is the best thing I ever did and not only drives traffic to my blog but drives direct traffic to affiliate sales.
Site analytics and money
To date I have over 1100k subscribers and 180,000+ total views across all my videos on the You Tube channel:
Google analytics for the last 7 days. Unfortunately I’ve only recently added the analytics to my site. You can extrapolate out to get a rough estimate of my 30 day traffic. These numbers are not in any way impressive I would say:
Total affiliate commissions for past 30 days:
As you can see we are off to a good start. Considering the low traffic I would say this is a very good start indeed. I attribute most of the success so far to actually creating a brand with a face rather than a no name site. People buy what I recommend because they trust and like me as a content creator. Many bloggers and affiliates totally do not understand the power of putting a face and a little charisma behind their content. If you haven’t tapped into You Tube yet you are WAY behind the game my friend. You Tube brings me tons of direct traffic I simply cannot get in the regular SERPS. Do not shy away from the camera especially in 2018 and beyond.
Moving forward and general strategy
The name of the SEO affiliate game is content. I will continue to add content to both the blog and create more videos. I’ve reached out to a number of companies who are sending me samples of products. These companies also have affiliate programs I will join to make extra money.
There is no doubt in my mind I will reach $500/m fairly quickly in this niche with my current strategy. If I had to guess I give it a few months. Within the next month I will be setting up an email list to do giveaways and further increase the volume of my marketing endeavors. If I play this right I believe I can easily scale to $2000/m.
Stay tuned for more updates on this journey and hit me up with any of your questions!
